Film of the Week: Amreeka

The American Dream stretches far beyond its country’s borders. Amreeka is the sotry of Palestinian Muna (Nisreen Faour) looking to trade in the Israeli wall for an Illinois white-picket fence, with her teenage son, Fadi (Melkar Muallem). Writer/director Cherien Dabis’ debut feature Amreeka illuminates the modern immigrant experience to heartwarming, pointed effect.

Rupert Bunny – Artist in Paris

Rupert Bunny (1864–1947) is an exotic in the history of Australian art. A creator of grand, sumptuous paintings of Parisian life in the late 19th century, Bunny became one of the most successful artists of his generation.
